Most of the work I now do seems to be considered as “Alternative Photography”. I suppose as most of the images that have ever been shared originated on telephones, then everything else is alternative.
The techniques I use include; Silver Gelatine emulsions – Carbon Transfer – Carbro – Calotype – Wet Plate – Dry Plate
For me, digital recording is not photography. – It is very popular, but there is no element of craft or skill in the operation, the images on telephones or screens are clear, creativity can be expressed, but something is lost .
As I say on another page, I think of myself as a photographic engineer and I make photographs with a simple engineering process – some of these images I aspire to think of as interesting or which may help a thought be reinforced, a little.
I am working with many new (to me) ideas to use the skills and techniques I have acquired over the last 60+ years
I am trying to use old, out of date, photographic materials. A technique to use the packets of old, fogged Brovira and Galeria paper I have is “Lith” printing.
I use printing techniques using the Sabattier effect
I also use Sabattier on negatives and then use carbro onto glass to make an Orotone
